TRAVIS PETTIJOHN
CEO
Travis Pettijohn formed GCI Slingers LLC in March 2013, however, Travis was no rookie in the material placement business. Travis's grandfather Joe Pettijohn formed Pettijohn & Sons in 1958. Travis's father Mike Pettijohn began using conveyors to assist the grueling task of placing gravel and stone into foundations in the late '70s and by the mid 80's Mike, Travis's father was running fleets of dump trucks with conveyors attached to them. By the late '80s, Mike Pettijohn patented the first “Gravel Shooter” mobile aggregate conveyor system in the US and founded Gravel Conveyors Incorporated in 1989. This makes Travis the 3rd generation of Pettijohn’s who have innovated the foundation business. Growing up Travis worked at Gravel Conveyors and Pettijohn & Sons during the summers and on break from school. Travis immediately grew a passion for and loved the challenge of building these big trucks and hydraulic systems that powered these machines. Welding, building and assembling conveyors and hydraulic systems always kept Travis on his toes. The biggest challenge back then was how to throw rock "just 20 more feet"!
